Padella, Shoreditch

Restaurant/Hospitality

Phipp Street had to accommodate an industrious dawn bakery, bustling open kitchen, busy lunch service and refined evening dining, whilst allowing the space to change not just through the day but throughout the seasons. Warm tones of 1950s Italian canteens and sinuous Riva boats inspired the palette of burgundy, mustard, polished brass and woods. Skilled craftspeople reinvented the logo in marquetry, a classical technique that lets the wood's natural beauty shine, now sitting elegantly within the raw concrete double-height shell.
